Why 'The Odyssey' Now?
Homer's Odyssey chronicles the ten-year journey of the hero Odysseus as he struggles to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War.
The one-eyed giant Polyphemus, the witch Circe, the sea monsters Scylla and Charybdis, the enchanting Sirens — these mythological encounters have influenced countless films throughout cinema history.
Yet remarkably, a faithful, large-scale live-action adaptation has never been attempted until now.
How will Nolan — the master of time manipulation and unconventional narrative — breathe new life into this ancient classic? We can hardly wait for 2026.
The Christopher Nolan Filmography
Let's revisit some of the director's masterpieces.
'Inception' (2010)
A team of thieves who infiltrate dreams to steal secrets are given the seemingly impossible task of planting an idea. Dreams within dreams within dreams — Nolan's mind-bending layers and time dilation made this an instant classic.
'Interstellar' (2014)
A father leaves his family to travel across the universe in search of humanity's new home. The time dilation based on Einstein's relativity creates some of the most emotionally powerful scenes in science fiction history.
'Dunkirk' (2017)
The harrowing evacuation of Dunkirk during World War II, told from land, sea, and air across three different timelines. Shot on IMAX, with Hans Zimmer's pulse-pounding score, it's a visceral masterpiece of war cinema.
'TENET' (2020)
A spy thriller where time flows backwards. The mind-bending concept of "temporal pincer movements" pushed audiences' understanding of cinema to new limits. Starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson.
'Oppenheimer' (2023)
The biographical epic of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the "father of the atomic bomb." Winner of 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Considered Nolan's magnum opus.
'The Dark Knight' (2008)
The second chapter of Batman that redefined superhero cinema forever. The late Heath Ledger's Joker remains one of cinema's greatest villains, earning a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
